seems though an apache2 mod (libapache2_mod_dnssd) will register the .local address for you - just specify it in the virtual host conf!

seems i can't do name based vhosts of .local (mdns resolved) names. mdns is being picky about one domain/one ip? time to alias /254 to eth0
