in reply to a conversation

@marcamos i asked a tax expert. ;)

1. if you’re involved in a corporation or entity that has to file also, the deadline for that entity is usually march 15th, so therefore any documents resulting from that filing won’t be available earlier.
2. certain retirement investment vehicles allow contributions for the prior tax year up to the filing deadline, so natually any tax documents resulting from those contributions would not be available until some time after the filing deadline.

in case you were wondering how a pine needle thwarted my weather station, i found a fun gif explaining how this type of gauge works. the test for tomorrow (expecting rain) is whether i removed all of the pine needle or if there’s still a piece of it in there blocking the tipping-bucket from moving. 🤞

big change for my project: Obsidian MCP is now:

🎉 Markdown Vault MCP 🎉

same great functionality, but more accurately reflects that you can use it with: Obsidian vaults, Hugo / Jekyll / Astro sites, Bear, Typora, iA Writer, or Any folder of .md files.

This release also marks a simplication for permissions - no more .json config to specify how files can be accessed by the agent - each note is configurable in frontmatter.

went out to go to the bank and fill up my truck, was quite surprised (and delighted) to see No Kings demonstrators in my town.

i ascend the ladder, contemplating how much effort it will take to disassemble and repair my weather station’s rain guage, possibly needing to wait for parts to arrive.

i lower the mast, clamp it in place to work on the station.

i see a long-leaf pine needle stuck in the rain gauge funnel, and remove it.

today i am in our state’s Capital. my son is taking the SAT and i’m taking … a nap in the car maybe.

…so i’m more alert to drive home.

it’s for safety! don’t judge me!

Release v2.0.0 of my Obsidian MCP.

no breaking changes in this one, but big new feature:

frontmatter-based per-note permissions, and a new permission level to completely hide a note from being parsed by the agent.

tl;dr: agent_access frontmatter can accept ‘hidden' ‘read' 'append' or 'edit'

github.com/mikesusz/obsidian-m

and a sneak peek at my future roadmap: i'll be rebranding this to be agnostic to the editor you use, because really it just points to a directory of markdown files.

today i cleaned out the water inlets to our washing machine, after i was made aware that it doesn't fill from hot or cold.
we have well water, and lots of silt/sand/tiny rocks/rust get pushed through the pipes and land on the screens of the inlet.

i use a lab 'wash bottle' to jet the silt out of there onto an old towel.

i end up doing this every couple of months. this, plus the annual mixing-cartridge replacement for the kitchen sink, means i should probably invest in a whole-house filter.

since my old sneakers are literally falling apart at the seams, i’ve finally relented and began wearing my new ones (exact same model). i already miss the paracord laces, i might have to move those over.

YMMV but upgrading Astro 5 to Astro 6 has some breaking changes (that the @astro team has documented for you! docs.astro.build/en/guides/upg )

for my relatively simple site with just a few content collections, the fixes were minimal. after Claude Code and i fixed one of my sites, i asked CC to document the changes for ... themself, in my other sites. so they created this, i copied into my other projects to help CC fix the same things there.

(it's a weird time we live in)

pushing a media playback fix to my personal lifestream/social feed site (feed.mikesusz.com) and got to thinking....

is this the type of thing that would be useful for others? i might abstract all the 'mike' out of this and make it clone-able and deploy-able. i just have to figure out how to make it approachable for people who aren't deep into infrastructure.
