@irafcummings@threetonesun i look forward to watching this soon since i loved the books so much. it's tough to get the family on-board with episodic television though, perhaps i can just say “there's this new youtuber called ‘Martha Wells’…”
a milestone quietly passed this week. 29 years ago, i started my first professional web development job. “Webmaster” at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston.
fun exercise: viewing archives of my website on my 34" ultra-widescreen monitor. (inconceivable monitor sizes at the time, of course) https://history.mikesusz.com/
@annika ooh that's a nice refresh. i went with a lenovo Y34wz-30 because of mini-LED backlight, but i really haven't used HDR much because the bright is BRIGHT.
@annika ooh neat, which one? is it widescreen? i had a monoprice 34" for a while, my wife took that one over and i have a lenovo legion 34" now. i love it. super useful to be able to split the widescreen between two different inputs, e.g. i've got the left half attached to a dock with my work Mac, and the right half displaying my personal Mac.
actually Starbucks, “that first sip feeling” is pain. the fiery burning pain as if you handed me a cup of molten lava and it just immolated my tongue and the roof of my mouth.
@jerzone better yet, i never told the kids what we were doing. we just stopped at a weird parking area at the end of the road and i started walking. lol
@jerzone okay i have to ask, have you taken the journey over to Madison? i stopped there with my boys on our way home from Mt. Washington and it was ... quite epic for a quick stop.
since i hurt my back, i’m not able to go to PAX East this year. but i am excited that my wife got to take the kids, this will be her first time attending!
@jerzone i keep an old magnetic dashboard phone-mount on my desk so i can chuck all the tiny screws at it while i work on projects. if i drop something i can usually sweep that around near the floor and find it eventually. not sure about sproinging things though, that’s gonna increase the target area.
don’t get too excited, but today i’ve spent some time going back to old crosswords (from before i subscribed) in apple news so i can do more crosswords
i hate to say, but i kinda want cable and a DVR again. i have so many subscriptions right now, but any time i have an idea to watch a specific thing, it’s not available anywhere and i have to pay for it.
@annika i usually spend my first half hour looking for an RJ45 for my travel router and then i take a nap. sometimes the tvs let you HDMI into them so that’s nice.
i just finished reading The Murderbot Diaries entire series and i didn’t find out until i was on book 3 or 4 that Apple was making TV out of it and now i’m … what’s the word for being both excited and mad?
@jerzone@m750 this is funny but ... my nephew piped his gaming PC's cooling through his floor and put the radiator+fans in his basement. free basement heat!
