so i’ve been listening to @THWofD for two seasons and really enjoy @rhettmiller’s theme song. then i was shuffling my @CMJ compilations and guess what? @old97s! :)
this is the kind of over-reaching that GDPR was (in part) designed to prevent: MapMyRun doesn’t need all my contacts in order to share a workout to facebook, but it wants them, and it checks this box by default.
watching today’s Apple WWDC Keynote astounded me. when i started making websites (25 years ago) so few people had access to what seems today to be such basic content. the power then was adding _context_ in linking. today the power is _augmenting_ your perception. amazing.
my timeline today is an interesting mix of people who either: a.) believe the sky is falling, or b.) believe this is the singularity that we were all waiting for
wow i wasn’t sure how many emails you were al getting, as i had only gotten a few. but that changed. i guess companies are sending them in order of last name, alphabetically.
i’m in a better place now, and if you are in a dark place i want you to know that it can get better for you too. ask for help if you need it. there are so many people who will be there. reach out. it’s not weakness; it’s seeking someone to help unleash your strength.
the next step of my improvement is to recover the spiral before it gets too deep. i am working on this with meditation, introspection, sitrep and exercises that break me out of looping thoughts and obsessing.
this perspective has let me view current things more accurately. i can now catch — almost in real-time — when i am inaccurately assessing a situation. my biggest problems now, are when i don’t catch it immediately, and the spiral has begun.
one of the most interesting exercises for me has been to revisit events and decisions of my past and realize how my depression affected them; what i thought was misfortune or oppression or misunderstanding, was, in fact, depression clouding my view from the truth.
