(i recognize that being able to work from home is an enormous privilege.) working from home constantly has made me aware of an interesting thing: i am only ever alone when i'm commuting, or when i'm in the bathroom. i don't miss my 100+ mi r/t commute. but i miss some solitude.
if you have a teacher in your life, thank them :) then teach them about downsampling HD video from their phones to 720p or 480p, and using services like youtube instead of google drive.

got 4-day pass for myself to PAX this year, first time i just decided to 'go for it.' then realized it was so early, it was occurring during february school vacation. but, back from family vacation, hope to enjoy one day of PAX East tomorrow.
has anyone else noticed this? the Netflix iOS app has started giving me notifications, and i can find no place in the app’s settings page to manage those.
(yes my next course of action is to disable that app’s ability to send me any notifications, even ones i’ve asked for).
try and guess when my team switched to a build tool that authenticates through github and therefore would have access to my personal repos, so i had to create another account to use just for work.
ironically: last year my company looked at my band, my experience, and my location, and determined i was being underpaid. they increased my salary. i totally didn’t expect that.
