so i used my iPhone to take a photo of my USPS receipt in hopes of maybe copying the text of the tracking number out of it. when i tapped on the photo i got a prompt to “track shipment.” surprised, delighted and impressed. technology hasn’t done that to me in a while.
at the point in a code tutorial where i refuse to get lunch or get up from my desk or make a noise please don’t interrupt me this feels like it’s going to make sense and stick around in my head please no interruptions i’m even gonna quit the twitter client now

so i almost preferred the sinus infection vs. the flu that we got from my youngest. seems like my wife and youngest son are on the mend though, my older son and i are in the worst part of it.
and it was inevitable, my wife and i now have whatever my youngest son had. it hit me fast today. the kids are now the most capable humans in the house.
took today off because i don’t feel good and my son is home sick from school feeling bad in a different way and gosh i really just want Spring. open-windows Spring.
shout out to all the other parents playing Animal Crossing with their kids today, since that’s the most ‘traditional’ Easter thing we’ve done for the past couple years.
update, both are almost back to normal, they tested negative for covid on thursday. we’ll test them again tomorrow. i think this was a bad cold. we haven’t been exposed to germs in … two years. 🤞
both kids sick (with different symptoms) so it’s home-from-school and tests for everyone in the morning! i know i can’t shelter them from everything forever. but maybe we kept this at bay for more than two years.
i shoveled everywhere last night and that got rid of the slush that would be 1” of ice now. then i shoveled everywhere for the couple inches of powder we got overnight.
recently learned about how Astro does partial hydration, as i’m working on code that i want to execute client-side in my (otherwise statically generated site). the attribute i’m using is client:load, info about hydration in Astro here: https://docs.astro.build/en/core-concepts/component-hydration/ super powerful!
working from the couch again, listening to my favorite 90s alternative music on my ipad, thinking i could listen to this on the apple tv (and good sound system) but what could go on the screen?
today i dealt with a foot of snow and keeping my kids entertained and work and dogs and … everything i had to deal with was a privilege because a neighboring dictator wasn’t firing missiles at me.
once again, i’ve implemented a new, hyped framework and in attempting to upgrade it, experienced several breaking changes, without any docs as to how to mitigate them.
just in case there are any JS folks who wonder about adoption - this is why users avoid your shiny new things
