how it’s going. my back was hurting for about half of the weekend so i only got 20 small wheelbarrow loads moved. (my small wheelbarrow has 2 wheels, more stable and less chance of injuring myself more).
using this 4 yards of soil to smooth out a slope in my backyard and fill in where we had some trees removed & stumps ground.
@revmem i hear ya. i have a very heavy box of ultra wide scsi hard drives that i won’t part with becuase they have my data on them! ehh, when they were in a RAID5, and what multinational terrorist organization has access to the specialized knowledge to try and recover my files from them and get a hold of my old website backups and winamp downloads and apt packages.
happy to finally add some design to my .dev site, since Astro has stabilized and I don’t have to keep rewriting (all my custom theme code) :) https://mikesusz.dev
@sarajw saw when you posted that previously, it’s what spurred me to take the picture. “i bet i could fit a nintendo switch in my (mens) jeans pocket.” yep. unreal.
@zachleat ah! i forgot to send this earlier. my son turned my random collection of minifigs into a diorama. he came up with the idea to put Chell halfway through the portal. and there’s little @Una’s twin!
my @ivory on iOS says “links only” when i switch to Home tab and indeed it seems to be only displaying posts with links, and i can’t find anywhere to change this. anyone help?
good nap: you wake up confused about what time it is great nap: you wake up confused about where you’re at best nap: you wake up confused about who you are
depression is so fun. when i’m having a good / productive / joyful day i then reflexively think: “oh crap now this is mania” and/or “welp obviously something bad is happening/will happen and i’m unaware and i haven’t been mentally preparing for it constantly”
@revmem i don’t remember if you’re in the boston area or listen to podcasts, but dave epstein posts every morning and talks about the difficulties in forecasting and tends to give an over/under in situations like this. so much more context than a simple forecast summary. https://weatherwisdom.captivate.fm/
if you ever have or ever will do a small plumbing project, you should know that water “shut off” valves don’t always “shut off” due to age and mineral buildup. they merely “greatly slow down” but leave water slowly dripping. these caps will help and they’re super cheap. just show this photo to the associate at the home store. you can use them with teflon tape or (in my case, i used) a small rubber o-ring to make a seal while disconnecting a faucet or toilet water supply.
@kgf@hbuchel wow! when i’m in new york again we should all totally get together and … uh, like look at our phones or stare out the window… never mind this wasn’t a good idea
@hbuchel ah yeah not spicy but Goslings is the commodity. an interesting thing when you descend into ginger beer is trying to drink a ginger ale again. i find it to be vague brownish water.
@hbuchel i’m like this too, and also with having lunch with other people. “we should have lunch!” yes, we should. separately. i do not want to eat in front of you.
When I was younger and had the energy to be more impulsive, I could totally just decide that I Wanna Rock Right Now. But at my current age, any activities related to Rocking will require 24 to 48 hours notice.
(i’ve shared this on the bird site, will recount here)
one of my best observations about new york city is this, remember EveN:
East and North
the streets that are even go East
the avenues that are even go North
this is true in general, there are 2-ways and exceptions but this will get you far. even if you’re not driving, this will help you to anticipate where traffic is coming from.
@Meyerweb message? how about: “this place is not a place of honor. no highly esteemed deed is commemorated here… nothing valued is here. what is here was dangerous and repulsive to us. this message is a warning about danger.”
@jdarnold we’re watching the finals of the mario cart tourney. i never realized how much strategy could be employed. (probably why i always lose to my kids)
