@mikesusz
@Meyerweb i eventually got used to it saying “it’s up to date” (as of the last time i checked) but if they could literally put that time in human-readable format in the message, that would be keen

@danielleganza i would encourage folks to give feedback to their colleagues who use these terms also. my CEO used to say “maniacal focus” frequently, and i heard it repeated by my department head. so i asked them not to, explaining that “mania” is a medical condition. they thanked me for the feedback. i never heard them say “maniacal” again.

If I had a dollar for every time I launch the Microsoft Store instead of launching Slack... I could buy something nice at the Microsoft Store.

@annika yeah i’d like to think game designers didn’t make it as sisyphean as software development, but no promises.

random: if you or someone you know has SSD (Single-Sided Deafness) and have trouble finding good monopods (single headphone) try this: search ebay for “airpods missing” and you will find plenty of people who lost one of their airpods and are selling the case plus the other one.

i’ve always asserted that Google’s promotion and then destruction of widespread RSS adoption was purposeful on their part (seeing RSS as an existential threat - it literally cuts them out of the loop in discovery) but this demonstrates it so much more eloquently (and in detail) “embrace, extend, extinguish” https://mastodon.online/@ixi/110898662624632294

this is an enormous city and it’s filled with so many people and if you witness them you see them experiencing joy and sadness and wonder and confusion. if you pay attention, you will see the spectrum of human experience and emotion.

my client engagement is wrapping up so this is my last work trip to NYC for a while. i celebrated it by doing something a bit different.
in every trip (including this one) i’ve stayed in or on the fringes of Midtown. the outliers being near the UN, or in the top fringe of Chelsea (where i am tonight - flower district. hello!) in the evenings i would go out and walk, to the rivers and back, to central park and back. the high line.
but tonight i took the subway to Battery Park and walked back.

@jimmynotjim @irafcummings i have read that freezing stock in an ice cube tray and then dumping the cubes into a bag means you have portioned amounts of stock to throw in when you’re cooking and also try not to confuse them and put them in your cocktails

don’t judge a woodworker by the number of clamps they have. instead, judge them by whether they think they have enough clamps.
(the correct answer is no: you can never have enough clamps)
