this is Bexar County Courthouse. my particular photo is insignificant.
in 2017, IBM hired me & flew me to Texas. i flew in early, rented a car, drove to San Antonio before my training a few days later in Austin.
i did the river walk. ate dinner. saw the alamo. and completely forgot where i parked my rental car. panic. didn’t know the plate #. could barely describe this car.
then, remembered i took this photo right after parking. Apple Photos saved the geo. i tapped on a map and found it.

trying to see the status of Fortnite by looking at the Fortnite Status account on X except the elon timeline isn’t showing me newest first. in fact i’m scrolling through a list of irrelevant garbage from 1-4 years ago.

i wanted to look up some specs for my pickup truck. i knew i had a photo of the sticker inside the door. i: - searched Photos on my phone for 'Ford' and found it - copied the text of the VIN out of the image - pasted it into my reference note in Obsidian - got back to my PC where it had synced, used a website to decode the VIN - found some specs in metric - copied them into VS Code, asked copilot to convert them to imperial units & format them in a markdown table
@m750 i feel this every time i hear the news, like we lost someone from our team who couldn’t escape from the force pulling down on them, pulling down on all of us.
and i think how different a world could be if we still had dolores & kurt & elliott & chris & jeff & tim & robin and so many others. we’d take it for granted—we wouldn’t know otherwise. but we’d still have a chance to let them know how they make us feel, and hope they could turn our love into strength to help them resist the pull.
@sbourne i have worked with so many developers who claim to be “full stack” who then say “i don’t know anything about out CSS” well goodie, i guess each of us gets to decide where the “stack” becomes “full”
dearest ‘well-meaning’ project manager: every time you ask me a question about something unrelated, the time for me to deliver this feature increases by 30 minutes.
please choose your questions wisely, consider: 1. am i the right person to ask? 2. could someone else answer this question? 3. do you need an answer immediately? 4. is the answer to this question more important than completion of the feature i’m working on? 5. could this be done asynchronously e.g. via email?
@irafcummings you plus it, or you … and add it to your liked songs. it’s super weird. but if you tap the album art and view the “main” play window you get a plus and a minus
